My girlfriend and I had drinks and dinner. Both where great and the staff were very helpful and there as needed for our needs. We also had the best cheese cake after dinner. We will be going back again and enjoyed everything this place has to offer.

I have never felt so taken advantage of. This place is so ridiculously overpriced you'd think it wasn't in the middle of nowhere. Not only did we pay $15 for a so-called salad with frozen fried chicken, my poor boyfriend paid the same for obviously microwaved storebought spaghetti and meatballs. The what I'm guessing was the owner not only grabbed my arms to ask me about my tattoos, but has apparently taught the waitstaff to ask, at every pass, if we were "still working" on our food. Absolutely terrible. I ordered a glass of the Clos du Bois, the server didn't ask if I wanted the red or white and brought the white, I had wanted the red and didn't know there was a choice. Have never felt so ripped off. $2.75 for splitting a plate?!?

Twice a year I head to St. Helens with friends for a dog show. We try to eat at the Dockside each time. We've never been disappointed. We love the food and the staff. My bff and I were there last Saturday, 4/21. Had a great time and good meal as usual. Look forward to going again in September. On 4/20/2013 I introduced 2 dog show friends to the Dockside. They were as impressed as I was and vowed to return as well. Be sure to try the Ben's Almost World Famous Avocado Spinach Dip. Wonderful!

Most amazing dinner I've had in a long time. And even more amazing service! The gal who brought us our beverages brought us water for our dogs! Shawna was our waitress, and let me tell you... What a refreshing personality to have on their staff. I'm not sure who does their hiring, but they hit that young lady right on the nose. Overall amazing food. I had the herb chicken with mashed potatoes... A unique blend of seasonings and herbs in a creamy sauce made this chicken above and beyond. I truly would recommend this restaurant to anyone who's looking for wonderful eats and wonderful service.

Foods good, just a bit pricey for what it is. Couple dollars more than what it should be. Don't buy the Pop at 2.50 a glass, what a rip off.

Since moving to Scappoose, we have eaten at the Dockside numerous times, and it's always been delicious. The staff goes out of their way to make you comfortable. HOWEVER, they're advertising tapas, and according to my definition from eating the "real" thing in Spain, what they offer doesn't fit that category. I said something to the waitress, and she explained that it fit "St. Helens patrons." I guess they don't wish to strive towards something a little adventurous.......a shame, I think. But, that won't stop us from going back, as dinner last night, was again delicious.

A great lunch and dinner spot in St. Helens. The Dockside has a friendly staff, great service and a varied menu. Steaks, seafood, salads, burgers, pasta dishes... it's all good. The Tours of Italy are enormous!

I just moved in to St. Helens and looking for great place to have food. I have never ate in Dockside, but since they have great reviews from their customer I took my chance to have their catering service for my wedding. Tiffany was the one who handle mostly the catering order, she is very nice, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. She took care pretty much everything for me, from creating menu and modified it. At the day of my party, she was the one who dropped all the food and made sure all served properly, very professional. I like them already. The food also great, all of my guests were complementing their food. They even took most of the food home because I had so much left over, I didn't know they were going to give me such a decent portion. I was happy with their service and I am looking forward to have their service again for my next party. Good luck Dockside, we are supporting you along the way!

Great food, we almost always start with the calamari! My husband and I generally get meat dishes, but my kids love the pasta dishes. They also enjoy drawing on the paper table clothes, as do I. The atmosphere is nice and the wait staff are generally attentive. I've been there several times when it's been understaffed and they still do a good job keeping everyone happy. Good drinks, can't remember trying a dessert so will do that next time. Food isn't as tasty when you get it as take out for some reason - it just isn't as good when you get it home as when you eat it there - so I'd suggest spending the money on the food only when you have the desire to go to the restaurant and eat it. Someday, I want to try eating on the roof top deck - I hear the view is fabulous. Another good choice in St. Helens.

It's a challenge to find good food, good service, and a nice atmosphere all at one place but the Dockside Steak and Pasta restaurant is a solid 4 out of 5 stars across the board! The food is consistently tasty so bring your Italian pallet and knock yourself out. They treat their servers well and it shows as they all work as a team to keep your glass full and your spirits on high. This place may be a bit out of the way for many but it's worth the trip. You'll have to walk off the full feeling and the little town strip near the river is ideal for a quick stroll. There are three other restaurants nearby and we have tried them all but they don't come close to what this little taste of Italy dishes up. Room for improvement: Restrooms! 2 out of 5 stars.

Excellent service, great food, good beer on tap... What more could you ask for on the Hood to Coast route!

Just moved to the area and was looking forward to eating here due to all of the good recommendations. My experience was not so good. The atmosphere is good and the service is not too bad but the food leaves a lot to be desired. The fettucine alfredo was literally inedible. The breadsticks were pretty good but what is free at Olive Garden is $10.95 here. WTF.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
